About

I'm a freelance software developer from Berlin, Germany. I'm doing most of my development with Python (besides the usual suspects like Java, Perl, Shell C, C++) and Linux (mostly Fedora, CentOS and RHEL). In the last two years I had a couple of somewhat bigger projects which needed a web interface. TurboGears was a natural fit and helped my developing high-quality web apps. What I like about TurboGears is that it does allow me to choose the right components for my task which was extremely helpful when I developed "non-standard" applications which did not use a database at all.

Involvement into the TurboGears project

Most of the projects I'm paid to do won't be published as free software but they all rely on some open source software. During my development activities using TurboGears, I found a couple of bugs. I always try to send fixes upstream so I minimize my privately maintained branches. While doing that I became a committer for TurboMail. I think that the TurboGears docs could be improved so every time I find another nasty gotcha, I try to write some documentation here. Sometimes I don't find the time but every litte pieces helps, right? ;-)

Other Free Software activities

Besides TurboGears, I work on several other free software projects, especially CentOS and Fedora Linux, where I maintain packages for pyPdf and python-zope-interface. Furthermore I do some rpm package building for Bacula.

Non-TurboGears docs

Below you find some documentation I wrote for software related to TurboGears:
