Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a program that offers student developers stipends to write code for various open source projects.
GSoC 2008
TurboGears is a mentoring organization for the Google Summer of Code 2008 program. We are excited to be part of this cool program and welcome all students interested in web development and open source in general to consider applying for one of our GSoC projects!
The TurboGears GSoC 2008 program is organized by the TurboGears Project Team and administrated by Christopher Arndt (gsoc AT turbogears DOT org).
Our successful application for participation is retained here for reference:
Further information about the GSoC 2008 program can be found in the GSoC FAQ at Google.
Public Student Proposals!
Since we are an open community, we wanted to make it easy for students to put their proposals out there for everyone to see. For this reason we created:
Spread the Word!
Please visit our GSoC Resources page to look for logos, flyers and other material to get the word out about the Google Summer of Code program and that the TurboGears project is looking for students who want to work on one of our projects!
Project Ideas
We have a special page where we collect ideas for GSoC 2008 projects. Students please have a look at this page for projects that you would like to work on. If you don't find anything, please contact our mentors or join our general mailing list to present and discuss your own ideas.
Mentors
We have a special page where we list all our mentors with contact information. If you have any questions about a specific project idea or want to discuss one your own ideas with a mentor, don't hesitate to contact them.
If you're interesting in becoming one of our mentors, which means supervising a student working on a TurboGears GSoC project, add your information to the page and notify our administrator (gsoc AT turbogears DOT org).
Students
Student applications open March 24 and end on March 31. Students submit their applications via a Google web form.
